Laser fractional resurfacing
The method of rejuvenating the skin with a fractional CO2 laser
Laser resurfacing is an effective method that serves to remove or reduce pigmentation, wrinkles, enlarged pores and acne scars. Its main goal is to remove the dead layer of skin. During the skin’s contact with the laser beams, the activity of various enzymes is stimulated and at the same time the cell proliferation (multiplication) of fibroblast connective tissue begins, which actively participates in the synthesis of the extracellular matrix. They thus contribute to the formation of collagen and elastin, which are necessary for the smoothness and firmness of the skin.
The laser triggers reparative processes in the cells and restores their ability to remove chemical damage to their structure. The depth of action of the laser beam does not exceed 3 mm, so it is safe.
Advantages of laser resurfacing
- Pigmentation treatment
Exposure of the problem area to the effects of laser radiation contributes to the normalization of the chemical composition of cellular structures. This restores the natural color of the skin.
- Treatment of acne and postacne
The treatment is based on the ability of laser radiation to stimulate metabolic processes in the tissues, thanks to which the complete renewal of the cell structure begins. The essence of the method lies in the evaporation of damaged cells, which occurs due to their ability to absorb light. In their place, healthy tissue is created, smooth and even.
- Wrinkles
The treatment stimulates the new formation of collagen and elastin fibers, which results in the smoothing of fine wrinkles, the softening of deeper ones. The skin is smoothed and rejuvenated

How does laser resurfacing work
This method consists in removing the upper damaged layers of the skin and stimulating the deeper layers with laser beams. Thus, the treatment itself not only relieves external imperfections, but also triggers internal regenerative processes to restore cells that are located in the deeper layers of the skin.
The procedure is performed using an EMLA anesthetic cream to reduce pain.
The recommended number of sessions is prescribed individually with regard to the physical characteristics and specific problems of the patient.
The procedure lasts from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the area being treated.
Before the procedure
It is necessary to omit the sauna, solarium, self-tanning cream, do not expose to direct sunlight for at least 2-3 weeks before the procedure. To reduce the risk of hyper / hypopigmentation, we recommend resurfacing in autumn / winter.
Regeneration
After the procedure, the following occurs on the skin:
redness
swelling
According to scientific research, skin cells regenerate within 29 days. Neocolagenesis can take from 3 to 6 months. Thus, the average healing time of the skin after resurfacing is from 2-3 weeks to half a year, depending on the depth and intensity of the laser treatment.
Post-procedure care includes the regular use of creams and ointments to protect the skin’s surface from the sun, water, mechanical trauma and to speed up healing. Special preparations for regenerative care are prescribed by a doctor.
The regeneration process also requires the omission of the solarium, sauna, self-tanning cream and long-term exposure to the sun within 2-3 months after the procedure.
Depending on the depth and intensity of the resurfacing, the result can be seen 2 weeks – 1 month after the treatment itself.
Contraindication
Used laser
At our clinic, the procedure is performed with a SmartXide2 CO2 laser from the Italian manufacturer DEKA.
The SmartXide2 system is a real innovation and the only platform on the market that is equipped with CO2 and diode lasers, which allows use in many medical fields.
This is the result of the development of an RF CO2 laser source, which is equipped with a unique PSD® (Pulse Shape Design) technology.
Because it uses the synergistic effects of a CO2 laser and a source of radio frequency (RF) waves, the innovative HiScan DOT / RF can reach all layers of the skin.
SmartXide2 DOT / RF technology brings the possibility to choose all operating parameters and modulation treatments always tailored to the specific patient, in accordance with the properties and target tissues of the skin.
SmartXide2 DOT / RF eliminates the risk of PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation)
The SmartXide Dot laser penetrates the upper layer of the dermis, which is the supporting layer of our skin, containing most of the collagen found in the skin. SmartXide Dot targets the water in these tissues and then the tissue is removed inside the laser dot. Each laser dot is surrounded by space, and this allows thermal damage to the tissue. This thermal damage is responsible for the excellent results that can be seen with CO2 lasers.
The SmartXide Dot laser is set up for various types of treatment with maximum benefit for the patient. Superficial problems, such as pigment-related diseases or mild wrinkles, are treated with dots close together. Depth problems, such as scars or more pronounced skin folds, are treated with greater distance between the dots, reduced total number of dots, greater depth, and longer time intervals.
The collapse of collagen due to thermal damage results in immediate tightening of the skin. Importantly, however, about a month after treatment, there is a further improvement in skin firmness and collagen density due to collagen remodeling. These improvements can take up to one year.

Ultrasonic SMAS lifting
The rejuvenating non-surgical method effectively combats aging, sagging skin and wrinkles without the necessary and lengthy convalescence. Ultrasound acts on the muscle-aponeurotic layer of the skin, called SMAS, which is under the fat cells in the skin. The non-invasive method penetrates both under the skin and under the muscles, where it supports the production of collagen and elastin.
