Laser removal of eyelid warts in Prague
Removing a wart on the eyelid with a laser requires the precision and gentle approach that the sensitive eye area needs.
The procedure takes only a few minutes, and the result is fully visible after healing. Do not rely on home methods; have the problem treated professionally.
Why choose our clinic for eyelid wart removal
The eyelid is the most sensitive area for any dermatological procedure. The skin here is the thinnest on the whole body, and the closeness of the eye places high demands on both the doctor and the device. Home remedies are unsuitable in this area; the procedure should be performed by an experienced dermatologist.

How eyelid wart removal works
The procedure begins with a dermatoscopic examination. The doctor examines the growth, determines its type and depth and rules out a cyst, xanthelasma or another formation that needs a different approach. An overview of the types of growth we treat is on the page removal of skin growths.
Once the diagnosis is confirmed, the doctor protects the eyeball with a sterile eye shield or special contact lenses. Then an anaesthetic is applied as a cream or drops; once it takes effect, the procedure is much more comfortable for the patient.
The laser beam vaporises the tissue of the growth very precisely, while the eyelid skin right around it is spared as much as possible. For a small wart the procedure takes only 2 to 5 minutes. The doctor then disinfects the area. The patient leaves with home-care instructions and a check-up date.
You will find detailed information about other laser wart procedures in the section laser wart removal.
Recovery after the procedure
Eyelid skin heals quickly thanks to its good blood supply. Immediately after the procedure the eyelid is slightly red; the swelling usually subsides within 24 hours. The scab falls off after 5 to 10 days. Do not pick it off or rub the area.
Do not apply cosmetics or eye shadow while healing. Avoid contact lenses for at least a week. Sunglasses with a UV filter are a must, because eyelid skin is especially sensitive to UV radiation and there is a risk of hyperpigmentation without protection.
A follow-up visit three weeks after the procedure checks the healing, assesses pigmentation and rules out recurrence. If the growth comes back, the doctor assesses the situation without unnecessary delay.
FAQ - eyelid wart removal in Prague
Here we answer the most common questions about this procedure.
How can I tell a wart on the eyelid from a stye, cyst or xanthelasma?
A viral wart has a rough or warty surface firmly attached to the skin, and wart treatment differs from that of other formations.
A stye is an inflamed gland and is usually red and painful. A cyst is a smooth, dome-shaped lump filled with contents.
Xanthelasma are yellowish flat plaques at the corners of the eyelids. You cannot reliably tell these growths apart with the naked eye; a dermatoscopic examination gives a clear answer.
Can eyelid warts threaten your sight if they are not removed?
A viral wart itself does not directly threaten your sight. However, if the growth becomes large enough to block the field of vision or prevent the eyelid from closing properly, it irritates the conjunctiva.
If you want to know when a dangerous wart is a real risk, read our detailed guide on the topic.
Is the procedure suitable for children?
Yes, but the approach is more individual. Younger children usually find it hard to cooperate during a procedure near the eye, so the doctor assesses the child’s age and ability to sit still. The consultation decides on the most suitable approach.
Can a wart on the upper or lower eyelid come back after removal?
Recurrence is possible if the virus survives in the surrounding tissue. On the eyelid it is less likely than with plantar warts, but it cannot be ruled out. The follow-up visit picks it up in time, and the doctor chooses the right response.
What are the risks of removing warts right next to the eye?
When the procedure is done correctly, the risks are low thanks to the protective shield over the eyeball and the doctor’s experience. The doctor will tell you about possible risks before the procedure.
Home methods on the eyelid are unsuitable; acid or freezing spray irritates the conjunctiva and in the worst case can damage the cornea.
